UVH can provide emergency pet care during regular office hours. If your pet is potentially having an emergency, please call us right away at (318) 797-5522.
If overnight monitoring is needed for your pet, or your pet is having an emergency outside our hospital hours, they can be taken to Shreveport Bossier Animal Emergency Clinic for after-hours care.

UVH operates a fully equipped intensive care unit staffed by highly trained veterinarians and a board-certified internal medicine specialist.
We closely monitor our critical patients with:

How We Support Your Pet in an Emergency
Emergency care involves stabilizing your pet first, and may also include:
• Placing an IV catheter
• Administering IV fluids and pain medications
• Oxygen therapy
• Potential blood and plasma transfusions*
*Our Blood Bank program ensures our patients all have access to a safe and adequate blood supply.
