University Veterinary Hospital is carefully monitoring the developing situation in respect to the Covid-19 Coronavirus outbreak.
We have no plans for closure at this time and we are still offering all services including all inpatient and outpatient services, boarding, doggy day care, and grooming. In the event the CDC or Louisiana Public Health Authorities issue recommendations on business closure we will continue to offer care for patients with medical or surgical needs.
In effort to limit potential transmission of any respiratory illness, we are now offering curbside services to drop off your pet. Anyone can use these services for any reason. Just call ahead and we will make arrangements. If you are feeling sick and have “flu-like” symptoms please use the curbside service and let us know so we can take extra protective measures for our staff.
⦁ Curbside service for drop off and pick up for outpatient services and boarding/grooming/daycare
⦁ Curbside service for medication pick up
⦁ Payments made by phone or with portable services in parking lot
We are also working on providing Telemedicine services for our clients and patients in the upcoming days. Once this service is available we will notify all our clients by email and social media posts.
Lastly, there are a few reports of human to dog transmission of Covid-19. Most reports describe either no symptoms or at most very mild symptoms in dogs. There is a coronavirus vaccine for dogs but unfortunately it does not protect against this novel strain. This is a developing situation and we will be monitoring it closely. We will post any updates in regards to dogs and Covid-19 on our Facebook page as we receive them.
As always, please contact us by email or phone if you have any questions. We will do our best to notify everyone promptly with any changes to our service.
